Tuloy ang biyahe! Marcos to attend APEC summit in Thailand after taking COVID test


Barring last-minute changes, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to continue his visit to Thailand for the Asia-Pacific regional forum.

Marcos took a COVID-19 test before embarking on his final trip abroad on Wednesday, according to Malacañang. Her COVID test apparently came back negative.

The President’s COVID test after his contact with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen who tested positive for COVID during the Group of 20 meetings in Bali.

Hun Sen previously hosted world leaders, including Marcos, at the ASEAN summit in Cambodia. The two leaders had a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the regional forum.

“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will leave for Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday to join other world leaders for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit,” Cheloy Garafil, head of the press secretary’s office, tweeted on Tuesday.

She said Marcos would focus on food security, energy security and climate change mitigation while attending the APEC Leaders Summit.

“The president got tested as part of the health protocol for the APEC summit in Bangkok, Thailand,” she said.

“He also asked members of the official delegation to Cambodia to get tested,” he added.

Meanwhile, Marcos wished Hun Sen a speedy recovery from his COVID infection.
