A gathering of chefs from around the world will serve specialty themed dishes at a two-week festival called Commune which runs from August 21 through September. 5 at the Heights House Hotel, 100 W. Cavalcade St., according to hotel and event group spokespersons.

Commune is a project of IndieChefs, led by founder Grover Smith, a resident of Heights.

According to the IndieChefs website, the event is an “anti-food festival” that is “fair, gives back to the community, champions social justice and is committed to addressing systemic issues facing the hospitality industry.”

Among the ephemeral events that take place throughout the Commune’s two-week exhibition is the Commune Street Market, which opens on August 22 and runs from August 25 to 29 and September 1 to 5. .

Each evening, the Communal Street Market will feature a new group of chefs and new menus, including different thematic elements such as lighting design.

Tickets range from $ 50 to $ 500. Tickets for the street market start at $ 125 and early entry tickets are $ 150.

Commune Week 1 or Week 2 VIP tickets are sold separately and start at $ 2,500.

Several restaurants in the area will participate in this year’s Houston Restaurant Weeks. They are:
